Our whole lives, we are taught to be nice. To be considerate of others. To play fairly. To fess up when we mess up. Do unto others, turn the other cheek, respect your elders, obey the rules.

And for what? For what?

So some hyper-entitled coldhearted sneering rapist fuckheads can cheat and steal and lie and game the system until rape survivors are criminals and rapists are victims, while they rob us all blind, crush our freedoms, and rip away our future?

Fuck this sexist shit.

I am so done with this fucking misogynist society, where the president of the most powerful world empire mocks a rape survivor and laughs about assaulting women.

Where so-called “progressive” men scold us for being “distracted” from “important issues” when we bring up the ongoing holocaust against female bodies, and then go jerk off to movies of women and girls being raped, tortured, and mutilated.

Where over fifty percent of men admit they would rape a woman if they thought they could get away with it, and most of the other half look silently away while we scream and scream and scream.

Fuck this sexist fucking shit.

Go ahead and call me a man-hater, but when your daughter writes to confide in me about her abusive rapist ex, I will be there to do what you refuse to do.

Go ahead and call me negative, but when your sister calls me suicidal in the hospital because she was assaulted, I will be there to do what you refuse to do.

Go ahead and call me unprofessional, but when your colleague tells me about being harassed by your friend, I will be there to do what you refuse to do.

I will speak the fucking truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me, Goddess. I will speak it until the mountains crumble and the stars fall, and I will never, ever, ever be silenced again.

And the truth is, if you are never willing to speak it with me, you are responsible for the ongoing holocaust against half the population of Earth.

Where are you? Speak up! Louder! I can’t hear you over the screaming. Half the people on earth are screaming in terror and agony. What? What? I still can’t hear you. I have no time to drag you along, I’m busy looking up trauma therapists for your daughter.

This is about when Jesus started flipping over tables and wielding a whip: I can hear him shouting, “FUCK THIS SEXIST SHIT!”

It’s in a psalm somewhere, one of the really pissed psalms, like 64:

They sharpen their tongues like swords

      and aim their bitter words like arrows.

 They shoot from ambush at the innocent,

      attacking suddenly and fearlessly.

 They encourage each other to do evil

      and plan how to set their traps in secret.

      “Who will ever notice?” they ask.

 As they plot their crimes, they say,

      “We have devised the perfect plan!”

      Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning.

But Goddess says, “Fuck this sexist shit!”

Who else is fucking DONE? Who is ready to flip some goddamn tables and grab a whip? Let’s go. Let’s do this. Every time we rise, we reach a higher tide mark. This time, let’s go all the way. A hot, thick, pulsing tide of raging menstrual blood that will flush out all the gunk and make way for a new tomorrow.

There’s 167 million women in this country. If even half of us rise, even 1/10, no one can stop us. No one can silence us. No one can hold his hand over our mouth to muffle our screams. No one can laugh while trying to gang rape us. No one can mock our trauma one day and assault us again the next. No one can enslave, torture, imprison, subjugate, abuse, oppress, and kill us with impunity.

We can be human. We can be alive. We can be free.

Give me your hand, and I’ll give you mine.

We can do this.

Trelawney Grenfell-Muir  teaches courses about Sex, Dating, Marriage, and Work in the Religion and Theological Studies Department at Merrimack College and about Cross Cultural Conflict in the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. A Senior Discussant at the Religion and the Practices of Peace Initiative at Harvard University, she holds an M.Div. from the Boston University School of Theology with a concentration in Religion and Conflict, and a Ph.D. in Conflict Studies and Religion with the University Professors Program at Boston University. Previously a fellow at the Institute of Culture, Religion, and World Affairs and at the Earhart Foundation, Grenfell-Muir has conducted field research in situations of ongoing conflict in Syria, Lebanon, and Northern Ireland.  Her dissertation explores the methodology, constraints, and effectiveness of clergy peacebuilders in Northern Ireland. She has been an invited speaker in community settings and at MIT, Boston University, Tufts, and Boston College on topics of gender violence, economic injustice, and religious or ethnic conflicts and has also moderated panels on genetic engineering, cloning, and other bioethics issues. She currently writes articles, book chapters, and liturgical resources about feminist, nature-based Christianity.

  21. Yes, fuck this sexist shit!!! I’m just afraid I will be on an airplane when the demos start tomorrow. I know, I know, there will be other demos. Imagine a world where we don’t need to demonstrate in order for our human rights to be respected. It will come, sisters, it will come, if we fuck this sexist shit!
