A gift from author Isabella Ides:
Hello FARsighters!!
This is more of an announcement than an article. My novel, WHITE MONKEY CHRONICLES, which has been reviewed by Elizabeth Cunningham on the FAR site, will be offered for FREE for five days, Oct 1st through Oct 5th. I would love for the women of FAR to be able to take advantage of this limited offer.
The story centers on a rogue order of nuns who are raising an undocumented, bicultural baby god on the downlow. He’s blue. A little bit Hindu, a little bit Jew, the baby is an inconvenient truth about an affair between two Gods from opposing religions, one married, one the famous bachelor God of the bible. The Cardinals of the Great Church get wind of this illegitimate baby God and so begins the hunt. Expect an appearance by the Godma to sort out this metaphysical mess.
Here are what some readers say:
Comic, Cosmic, Creative, White Monkey Chronicles is a veritable easter egg hunt of allusions to philosophers, biblical texts, and pop culture.
A timeless story of an orphan’s wish for a family, a lyrical ode to love, or a fascinating study of religion and philosophy – you choose your mystery to read.
But on each and every level, it’s magically delicious.
This book is so funny! I found myself reading passages out loud to my family and wishing I could read the entire book to them. The author tackles the big questions, like…what is god? Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? What happens after we die? She somehow has found a way to pull the essential bits from the many belief systems that have come and gone and shine a fresh light on the essential mysteries of life, with humor. She throws all our assumptions out the window and spins a tall tale that keeps us wondering how it will end. Looking forward to reading it again and again, each time unlocking another layer of meaning. “A plan within a plan, a plan without a plan. The Godma moves in mysterious ways, her wonders to behold!”
Here is a brief synopsis from IndieReader
IR VERDICT:
WHITE MONKEY CHRONICLES: THE COMPLETE TRILOGY is a delightful and thought-provoking walk along a multi-faceted road of philosophy, spirituality, and dystopia. Its pages are filled with marvelous word play, intriguing characters, and most importantly, a phenomenal plot surrounding the offspring of two transgressing gods and a group of loveable, resolute nuns. Funny, intellectual, and insightful, author Isabella Ides has written what will surely become a classic.

Isabella Ides was born under the Hollywood sign and attended a Catholic School on Sunset Boulevard. Her father ran search lights for movie openings. Thus she was bent towards stage lights and spirit lights from the get go. A poet and playwright, she considers her debut novel, White Monkey Chronicles, the mother lode. Everything leads to it. And away.

Grab this book! I, too, keep picking it off the shelf and re-reading sections. Always more pages than I intend ’cause White Monkey Chronicles is a terrific, wild ride that whipsaws all kinds of dogma, tradition and constricting convention. RBG would likely be right at home in the Convent of the Joyous Mystery with the three remaining resister-Sisters. The book’s got everything: a shape-shifting monkey-god, a divine baby who is blue when born, Three Wise Women who refuse to submit to the clergy, festooned in bird-beak and feather vestments, intergalactic travel, and street racing in a vintage Cadillac Biarritz convertible. READ THIS BOOK.
